“The part can never be well unless the whole is well.”  – Plato

Naturopathic Medicine is a primary health care service that uses natural substances and methods to support the body’s own healing mechanisms. Naturopathic therapies are gentle, effective and scientifically proven. They may include Botanical Medicine, Clinical Nutrition, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Homeopathy, Hydrotherapy, Naturopathic Bodywork, and Lifestyle Counseling. Naturopathic Doctors specialize in natural medicine and are regulated in Ontario by The College of Naturopaths of Ontario and all of our Naturopathic Doctors are licensed in Ontario. Naturopathic Medicine is founded on the following core philosophies.Naturopathic Medicine

1) Do No Harm
Naturopathic Medicine focuses on healing the body without unnecessary side effects to the patient or the environment. We use sustainable natural medicine which facilitates the healing. In doing no harm, we honour our bodies and nature.

2) Cooperate with the Healing Power of Nature
The body has an inherent power to heal and restore health. Naturopathic Doctors work to encourage and facilitate that vital power in the most efficient way using natural medicine.

3) Treat the Root Cause
Diagnosing a condition is just one aspect of Naturopathic Medicine. Additionally, we focus on understanding the origin of illness: why and how the disease manifested as the present condition. If we only treat the disease and not the root cause, the disease may return or, even more, become worse and develop into a chronic condition. By treating the root cause of an illness we achieve a deeper whole-body healing.

4) Treat the Whole Person through Individual TreatmentNaturopathic Medicine
A person is a unique combination of physical body, emotion, mind, spirit, genetics, and environment. Disease is a state of an imbalance one or more of these entities, thus each illness is unique. A Naturopathic Medicine course of treatment is planned according to  individual needs and takes into account the entirety of a person to restore the body’s optimal balance.

5) Teach the Principles of Healthy Living and Preventive Medicine
Prevention is the most effective care we can provide to ourselves. This is because as disease manifests deeper in a body it becomes more complex to treat. Optimal health helps make ourselves disease free through prevention. We encourage optimal health by getting to know ourselves, our body’s needs and environment, and educating ourselves in prevention plans.
